"Lunar Caustic", a series of photographs by talented photo-media artist Renate Rienmueller shows old and new photographic techniques and printing processes. Our video outlines her process and the fascinating experience of attaching her 100 year old camera to the high-tech equipment at the Stromlo Observatory in Canberra. Her continuous experiments with Silver Nitrate show an incredible artistic response to her subject, the moon.
We also follow closely some of Renate's photographic processes and other interesting studies in wet plate photography.
Renate’s work offers an incredible message in favour of the preservation of magic and the origin of photography.
